Hankook Technodome, the research and development center of Hankook Tire Co., won certificate of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025 for tire testing by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), South Korea’s leading tire maker said on Tuesday.

The ISO/IEC 17025 is the global standard for the competence of testing and calibration of labs.

Test data from the laboratories with the ISO/IEC 17025 are used by many accrediting organizations including A2LA and others around the world.

The latest accreditation is expected to help Hankook Tire build a world-wide reputation for quality of its systemic testing process in line with international standards. The company plans to earn more certifications from international organizations to raise its credentials at home and abroad.

Hankook Tire built the high-tech R&D center in Korea’s central city of Daejeon. The company spent total 266.6 billion won ($249 million) to build the R&D center commanding a floor area of 96,328 square meters on a site of 70,387 square meters in 2014. It has high-tech facilities with outstanding working conditions that can help researchers create various technologies, according to the company.

Hankook Technodome plays a key role in leading Hankook Tire’s overall research projects, focusing on the development of original and innovative technologies, with enhanced quality competitiveness, a Hankook Tire official said.
