South Korea’s top automaker Hyundai Motor Co. and its sister Kia Motors Corp. will make and supply up to 1,000 corporate cars to the United Nations, a bid that would bring in $12 million revenue for the companies over the next five years.

Hyundai and Kia said on Wednesday they were awarded a five-year deal to provide corporate cars to the New York-headquartered UN and umbrella establishments, beating other big names including Japan’s Toyota and America’s General Motors.

Winning UN stamped cars chosen through rigorous competitive procedure adds symbolic credential to the Hyundai and Kia name, said the group.

The fleet includes Hyundai Elantra (known as Avante), Kia Rio (Pride), K3 and Sorento. Hyundai and Kia will also supply auto parts for maintenance via another affiliate Hyundai Mobis as they appointed the company as the auto part vendor during the bid.

“TV exposure of our cars in UN events will greatly help our marketing,” said an official.

This is the second UN feat for the Korean automaking conglomerate. In 2010, it supplied 420 buses.

Of $17.7 billion procurement tenders from UN in 2016, South Korean companies were awarded $200 million worth.
