South Korea’s Seoul Metropolitan Government will hold the ‘1st Address Future Innovation Seminar’ on address information at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Convention & Exhibition Center (COEX) in southern Seoul in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the city government said in an announcement.

The seminar will discuss the development process of addresses, the direction of address policies, and the future of the address industry. It will be held in an open seminar format, allowing relevant companies and citizens to participate freely.

The event will begin with an opening speech by Professor Kim Dae-young of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) who is the chair of the Address Future Innovation Forum, followed by presentations from both the city government and the interior ministry.

There will also be various sessions, including a keynote session on using generative artificial intelligence (AI) and public data by Kim Pil-soo, head of External Cooperation Office at Naver Corp., and a presentation on address information and data by Professor Kim Ji-young of Konkuk University.

In the second part, Professor Kim Dae-young will introduce the achievements of the Address Future Innovation Forum over the past two years, as well as its address policy, address platforms, and address application task forces. Afterward, participants will engage in free discussions on address policies and industries.

“The role of address information, which is top-level data, is expanding with the emergence of intelligent infrastructure such as AI and big data, as well as innovative technologies such as autonomous driving and drones,” Seoul Metropolitan Government spatial information officer Seo Mi-yeon said. “The Seoul Metropolitan Government will continue its efforts to expand the use of address information by strengthening address information capabilities and developing relevant technologies in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.”
