SK ecoplant and state utility supplier Korea East-West Power have agreed to jointly explore overseas bases of green hydrogen for solar power systems.
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Friday for an overseas green hydrogen-linked solar power development project.
Under this MOU, the two will develop solar power projects overseas and use the generated electricity to produce green hydrogen to be introduced to Korea.
SK ecoplant will be responsible for water electrolysis, solar technology solutions, and financing, while Korea East-West Power plans to purchase green hydrogen to be produced and use it as a power source or supply it to other customers.
The primary development target areas are eight countries including Western Australia and Queensland in Australia, where the unit price of green hydrogen production is known to be the lowest in the world.
SK ecoplant said Australia is the best place for solar power generation given its long daylight and large land space.
