South Korean compact construction equipment maker Doosan Bobcat Inc. will be releasing its B900 backhoe loader tailored for the Indian market in October from its first manufacturing factory in the country.
Doosan Bobcat said Thursday it has completed construction of its backhoe loader plant commanding a space of 15,000 square meters in Chennai, one of the biggest economic centers in South India.
About 200 local dealers and people from partner companies attended the celebration event, according to the company.
With the opening of the factory capable of producing 8,000 units a year, Doosan Bobcat now is preparing launch of the new B900 backhoe loader in October, a model with tailored design and features for the Indian market. It targets to make it one of the top three best-selling models in India by 2022.

A backhoe loader is a tractor-like heavy equipment vehicle with a loader-style shovel on the front and a backhoe on the back. It is widely used in small construction projects because of its small size and versatility and is meeting with booming demand in India, the world’s third-largest compact construction equipment market with rising state-led infrastructure projects.
Doosan Bobcat is aiming to groom the new plant as its global manufacturing base for backhoe loaders to make headways into other markets in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia. It is planning to secure 25 dealers and 65 sales channels across India this year and expand the sales network to 200 by 2024.
On Thursday, Doosan Bobcat shares rose 0.99 percent to 35,850 won at 2:30 p.m. in Seoul trading.
